Creation of a standard Privacy Policy

    A call for volunteers!

If you would like to volunteer to help please post to this thread. Of course it goes without saying that if any company would like to donate their privacy policy or anyone has anything which would make a solid base then please contact me. We can make sure there is nothing sensitive and all identifying data is stripped out before they are placed online.

Re: Creation of a standard Privacy Policy

We (SourceClear) will donate ours. I can annote it with what I have learnt from writing it. It will need to be update it with stuff that I now about but we didn't have to use in the first release. I think the key is in an explanation of why each section is needed.

Example Privacy Policies required with default opt-out or opt-in

Today, I have finally uploaded into the file download area the privacy policy shared with use by SourceClear. This is a standard privacy policy that informs on how personal information maybe used.

What we could also do with are examples of privacy policies that by default

    1. Do not collect PII (default is 'opt-out')

    2. And, 'by default 'do collect PII (default is 'opt-in' unless specifically stated otherwise by the user).

This needs to be clearly defined in the policy.

    Any offers?

Re: Example Privacy Policies required with default opt-out or opt-in

This report by Forrester is an interesting read concerning the use of privacy seals opt-in, opt-out.
