About Us

On the face of it the ISM-Community may look like many other on line security projects. We like to think we are a bit different! We don't have the baggage often associated with standards bodies, don't have the commercial bias associated with vendor consortium's but do have the support of large corporations. The concept behind the ISM-Community is very simple. We collaborate to produce and share practical information security management material that can be used in the real world.

We have an informal steering committee of practicing information security folks, many who hold or have held CSO type roles in large well known corporations. As such we are able to apply a quick and accurate acid test to ideas and projects. Would they work in the real world? At the end of the day we are producing real projects that real people find really useful. Ourselves! If in the process of sharing others find our projects useful or what to offer their time to improve them then everyones a winner. In fact if anyone else wants to create or share anything at all useful, we will openly offer our help in anyway we can.

The current steering committee consists of;

  • Mark Curphey (Current ISM-Community Chair) - SourceClear
  • Mano Paul - Dell Inc.
  • Robert Rodger - HSBC
  • Chris Keogh-Ly - Nomura Bank
  • Michael Smith - Unisys
  • Justin Somaini - Verisign Corporate Info Sec.
  • William Hau - Foundstone
  • Earl Crane - US Gov
  • Jason Bevis - Foundstone
  • Stuart King - Reed Elsevier

We are in the process of setting up a US "not for profit" in order to fund some specific collaborative projects and receive tax free corporate donations in the US. All book keeping will be 100% transparent and open.

If you would like to participate in any project or get involved in any way whatsoever (including collaboration, sponsorship or donation) then please just drop us an email.
